Externship
Tulsa Medical Assistant Schoolโs 80-hour externship program provides our students with the real-world experience necessary to become confident, qualified Medical Assistants. The externship portion of our course allows our students the opportunity to work under the direct guidance of experienced medical professionals in a local medical office. Although we encourage our students to find their own externships, our Student Success Specialists are here to help our students identify potential opportunities in the area and assist with applications.
LEARN AND EARN IN 18 WEEKS
Licensure and Certification
Tulsa Medical Assistant School is licensed and regulated by the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools., so you will receive a Certificate of Completion once you complete the program and meet all of the program requirements.
Additionally, you will be a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) upon completion of the course and passing the national exam, available through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). You will be able to practice as a CCMA anywhere in the United States with this certification!
Medical assistants may perform many different clinical duties including taking and recording vital signs, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, etc. Administrative tasks are as equally important in the medical assisting field and medical assistants are also in charge of scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, working with insurance files, and billing.
Assistants are responsible for making patients feel at ease while also preparing them for treatment. During medical visits, assistants often work alongside the doctor.
